Irish Course Providers Association (ICPA)We are one of only seven colleges in Ireland to have The Irish Course Providers Association (ICPA) Bond scheme which protects student fees for all major FETAC awards. This bond has been fully approved by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). This is the first scheme of its type in the world to have been developed by private training providers and marks a significant milestone in the Irish further and higher education sectors.

We believe we have found the perfect solution for organisations and learners alike with blended learning approach which combines traditional face to face classroom methods with work-based learning, tutorials and distance learning teaching.

Blended Learning Resources

Blended learning can provide many benefits to learners and organisations, such as:

  • Increase contact time with the tutor than on a distance learning or elearning programme but less time away from the workplace than a traditional direct taught method
  • Less isolating than a distance learning module
  • More cost effective than traditional direct teaching programmes
  • It is a more flexible means of learning and gaining accredited qualifications as study can take place in learners own time, own home, and fit around family and social commitments, with little or no travel.
  • Learners and tutors work together to improve the quality of learning and teaching, the ultimate aim of blended learning being to provide realistic practical opportunities for learners and tutors to make learning independent, enjoyable, useful and sustainable.

The blended learning approach is developed in recognition of the costs and the practicality of releasing staff from the workplace in order to undertake relevant nationally accredited training. Market research led us to the development of this unique blended learning approach which we believe provides a balance of learning resources that work for both learners and organisations.

FETAC/QQI have validated this approach, which provides a variety of the following features:

  • Direct contact and classroom teaching time which will provide knowledge sets on topics relevant to practice which are specific to the learning outcomes of the programme.
  • A Practice Development Tutor will be available on-site providing learners with one-to-one support, to supervise their work practice, assist them to access service user’s files, interpret information and understand issues relating to confidentiality. It will introduce learner to relevant workplace documents and help to interpret their role when supporting service users. The PDT will provide on-site teaching, in the form of individual and group tutorials, mentorship, linking learning to practice and evidence based practices.
  • DVDs on our YouTube channel which have been carefully selected from organisations and Subject Matter Experts, to enhance the learning environment.
  • Martha McGinn Training and Consultation learning administration system, with the mission of fostering knowledge-sharing and best practices for the development and support of our blended learning programmes. Learning Management Systems provides us with an opportunity to improve our teaching and learning experience, reach more learners, and lower infrastructure expenses.
  • We have invested recently in a Learning Management System which offers us the best tools to manage assignments and promote learning, with features that allow us to use it as a platform to augment our blended learning. It allows our learners to use learning activities such as forums and databases; hence we can build richly collaborative communities of learning around our subject matter. We can also use it to deliver content to learners and provide them access to learning.
